In 2021, the production of poultry in our country will be about 6.8 million tons, and eggs will reach 44.9 billion pieces. According to the forecast of the regions, production volumes will continue to grow steadily starting from the second quarter, increasing indicators by the end of the year.
Such an assessment was given at a meeting with representatives of regional governing bodies of the agro-industrial complex and sectoral unions under the leadership of the First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jambulat Khatuov, dedicated to the development of poultry farming.
The industry has been actively developing in recent years, being the leader of the Russian livestock industry – the share of poultry in the total production volume in 2020 amounted to 43.1%.
Farms of all categories produced 6.7 million tons of poultry (for slaughter in live weight) and 44.8 billion eggs, which is higher than the results of 2019.
At the same time, the issue of import substitution of breeding material remains relevant at present. To ensure food safety, a subprogram of the Federal Scientific and Technical Program for the creation of a domestic competitive cross of broiler-type meat chickens has been approved.
Within its framework, Russian scientists have already created a type of meat chicken with high economic efficiency.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the progress of testing the domestic cross, as well as production aspects – veterinary welfare, the supply of breeding material, technological downtime associated with the modernization of production facilities.
The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia creates all conditions for the development of highly efficient and competitive Russian poultry farming.
This is facilitated by state support measures. In addition, concessional short-term and investment loans are provided.
