Mahama suspends his campaign in Ashanti Region, heads to Accra after demise of JJ Rawlings

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has suspended his campaign tour in the Ashanti Region following news of the passing of NDC Founder and former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings.
Mr Mahama was on campaign tour in Obuasi when he heard the sad news of the demise of his party’s founder, JJ Rawlings.
He made the announcement to his followers in Obuasi that he had to suspend the campaign and rush back to Accra.
He subsequently made official announcement on his official social media pages.

He said in a tweet and post on Facebook that, “I have announced the suspension of my tour of the Ashanti Region and all NDC campaigns across the country following news of the passing of our Founder and former President of Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings. May his soul rest in peace.”
